Interview with Loandre

C: A little history of you. Where do you live, in which way have you been touched by hiphop etc etc

LôAndré: I was born in Soyo (Angola) on July 10, 1985. My passion for music was felt to 15 years in school (Delfim Santos, Lisbon) as a dj and was baptized with the name Dj chocolate. I currently live in Lisbon (Portugal), the Hip Hop World officially entered in my 16 years although the years have heard before, Will Smith, The Notorious BiG, Puff Daddy and S.S.P. (Rappers Angolans), these were my first influence in this field of music. And when I started as Dj could explore the side of me sleeping, which was making hip hop my life! Today I am producer, mc and manager.

 C: A little discography

LôAndré: Although I have a CD on the market! But this year I will launch an EP in late July reached the market.
but I have sound promotional! and participating in production and acting with other artist of the area.

C: Tell me something about hip-hop and black music in your city.

LôAndré: Well my city is not the best in the world at the level of hip hop and black music, because I live in very conservative country and that kind of music is seen as the main tool of urban violence and not a style of music that reflects the reality of society to demand for better conditions of life! Although there now is beginning to accept a few to black music and hip hop began to gain the space in the city.

C: Do you know something about hip-hop and black music in Italy?

LôAndré: Frankly not, but like to know and have contact with the movement of hip hop and black music of  Itatia. After all sang country has its own way to show the hip hop or the black music! But we all have the same goal we are messengers of society in our letters!

C: What do you think about mp3?

LôAndré:  The MP3 can be good for the music industry that this is not to stop it! We all know that to produce a song or an album is always raising the cost so that the CD’s cost what cost! Now if emergence of MP3 mean "steal" the music oas musicians! All the investment made will not return, and professionals do not earn their salary and can be the end of the music industry and the musicians who work in it day after day. Think two or antrs times but to steal the music, because they are not only steal the publisher but the whole music industry!

C: And about women in hip-hop and black music?

LôAndré:  Each time we have more women in hip hop music and black! That is good both for them and for the music, that means the hip hop and black music has its values in society women! And they are within the movement to win, that’s very good! For example in black music now we have the Amy Winehouse, it is a real phenomenon to everybody likes to listen to sing, the proof was in grammy this year where it destroyed! And I’m sure that in the near future women will dominate the music industry hip hop.

 C: Have you performed live?

LôAndré: Yes already, in the main cities of Portugal and Angola.

C: Who is the artist you like most and why?

LôAndré: The Notorious BiG, early identified me with it, not by how sing, but as human beings what was, and how to face life day by day. The way played with the champagne! I love champagne (laughter), and also because life is short, when we want to stay another day is when we die!

C: Do you think that hip-hop and black music videos represent the real hip-hop?

LôAndré: Currently no! But the old school that are represented! Now what is represented in videos, hip hop is money and power. The hip hop to give this a round of  360º, and we know how it will be the future. Today is the few who keeps the ideology of the real hip hop, we make all men in the business and not mc’s with a view to represent the society of social quarters. The hip hop will not die, but lose their sources that began in the late 60.

C: In which way you live hip-hop?

LôAndré:  I live the hip hop a little with the wave of old school and new school, when I started was always as man of business and not mc’s. But as is normal in that industry who also produces and invests may end up singing is my case. And I am not now in retirement, I’ll stop when the time also stop.

C: Tell me something about clubs and radios in your city.

LôAndré:  Frankly I am not a listener of radio, why not spend what I like to hear! I like to hear good music and news, but in this country with already said before is very conservative and what goes on radio to me is rubbish! Now the club is worth in the environment is the best, the music is varied that the American hi hop to the national and disco music. always worth the penalty to leave Friday night.

C: Future projects

LôAndré:  Now I am preparing my EP and a mixtape with the `Dream 99 family will launch both in late July.
